(UNDATED) - There’s a new automated service to get the word out about escapes and other Department of Correction emergencies at any of Indiana’s 24 high-security prisons.
The free service is capable of calling you at more than one phone number about emergency events at more than one prison. The alert call gives detailed information about the escapee, including a physical description and the time of the escape.
The automated calls can also relay specific information on other emergencies that could affect residents nearby.
The alert notification service is part of an existing DOC information system, so there's no new taxpayer cost.
