(UNDATED) - Indiana is not making the grades when it comes to smoking prevention policy.
A new report card from the American Lung Association has the Hoosier state getting quite a few D's and F's, including in smokefree air and tobacco prevention spending.
The news is not all bad. The state got a C for youth access prevention. American Lung Association of Indiana President Nancy Turner says the state has stepped up education programs to teach teens about the dangers of smoking. Turner also says last year's increase in the cigarette tax helped to curb those wanting to pick up the habit as well.
Turner says there needs to be a statewide smoking ban. She says they haven't seen any legislation for this session that would fit that description.
