(SOUTH BEND) - A man convicted of killing a South Bend 16-year-old girl learned his fate Friday.
21-year-old Larry Mitchell will spend the next 65 years in prison.
Mitchell shot Ja-Vonda Tharbs in spring 2006. Tharbs had been waiting for a ride to an after-prom party when the bullet hit her. That bullet was meant for a man Mitchell had had an earlier beef with.
The convicted killer maintained his innocence - even after his sentencing.
