(EVANSVILLE) - Many government officials and business leaders in Kentucky agree that if an Interstate 69 bridge is going to be built between Henderson and Evansville, it will have to be a toll bridge.
An I-69 bridge and roadway to connect I-164 in Evansville with the Pennyrile Parkway south of Henderson was estimated in 2004 as costing $651 million dollars.
But the state road fund is already underfunded, and Governor Steve Beshear says with the state general fund facing its own budget crisis, money for new bridges is scarce or non-existent.
