(INDIANAPOLIS) - The Indianapolis-Marion County Public Library has settled out of court with eight construction companies it had sued over the late and over-budget expansion of the Central Library.
The firms' insurance companies will pay $17.7-million dollars without admitting liability. Lawsuits are still pending against three more companies
The Central Library finally opened two months ago, a year-and-a-half later than it was supposed to.
The project's cost ballooned by millions of dollars after inspectors discovered cracks in the concrete in a new parking garage and halted construction for several months.
