(INDIANAPOLIS) - A charge of child neglect has been filed against a woman whose two-year-old son died beneath the weight of her body.
If convicted, 24-year-old Latasha McMorris could get 20 to 50 years in prison. McMorris was arrested early Wednesday after her boyfriend found her on top her son, Sheldon Bartley Jr., who was not breathing.
An autopsy found the child's cause of death appeared to be suffocation, although authorities are still waiting for results from toxicology tests.
McMorris told investigators she started drinking about Noon Tuesday--she believes she passed out about 9:00pm.
