(NEW HAVEN) - Some families who lost their homes in the 2005 tornado that ripped through Vanderburgh and Warrick counties are slowly moving into the New Haven subdivision.
New Haven will eventually hold 55 Habitat for Humanity homes. Habitat spokeswoman Sally Gries says 19 families have now moved in with families to move into the remainder of the 27 houses that have been built so far by the end of this month.
Gries says the goal this year is to build 23 more habitat houses and work to line up volunteers to help build them and sponsors is continuing. The existing houses will be landscaped this spring.
Gries says once New Haven is done, about half the families living there will be tornado victims...the other half traditional Habitat families.
