(HAMMOND) - A health emergency has been declared in Hammond.
The Lake County Board of Commissioners declared the emergency saying the city is not receiving the health department services it needs.
The city eliminated funding for its health department in this year's budget and the county was to have taken over the services at the beginning of the year. However, there were disagreements about whether the county had the legal authority to do so.
