(GARY) - Gary pastor Marty Henderson was leaving a seafood restaurant Thursday night when he said a man from another church punched and stabbed him multiple times.
According to Henderson, 66-yearold Lynell Sartin allegedly became enraged when Henderson refused to shake his hand. He then - according to the police report - punched the pastor then stabbed him with a folding knife.
Henderson drove himself to an area hospital- where he was treated and released. Sartin was arrested and is facing battery charges.
Henderson's church has been embroiled in public controversy recently over control of church assets.
