(CARLISLE) - State Police are investigating the beating of an inmate at a state prison.
40-year-old Billy Lemond is hospitalized after being hit by a 10 pound dumbbell by another inmate Tuesday night at the Wabash Valley Correctional Facility in Sullivan County.
Prison Information Officer Rich Larsen says 32 year old John Dain hit Lemond in the face and head during a fight in a weight room. Investigators have not released a motive for the beating.
Dain was set to be released in June after serving nine years on battery and intimidation charges. Lemond is set to serve another 20 years for attempted murder and drug charges.
