(UNDATED) - In Indiana, roughly 3,400 cases of colon cancer were diagnosed in 2007. About 1,200 men and women died of the disease.
Incidence rates have been declining by more than 2% per year for men and women.
The American Cancer Society says these declines can be attributed to prevention and early detection of the disease through screening and increasingly effective treatment.
