(INDIANAPOLIS) - Twenty new crime cameras are being put up around Indianapolis.
The first was installed Monday afternoon. This will bring the total number of cameras around the city to 41.
The goal is to give police another tactic to fight crime. Debbi Fletcher with emergency management says the cameras are being monitored day and night by police or civilian officers. The cameras are also linked to the department's computer network, so officers can call up the views on their in-car laptops.
Other Midwestern cities have had great success with the cameras, including Chicago.
