(UNDATED) - It’s seems so simple. Hoosiers are being asked to turn off the lights.
"Earth Hour" is an effort to raise awareness about global warming by getting people around the world to turn off their lights for one hour on March 29th from 8:00-9:00pm.
Kate Howe with Indiana Nature Conservancy, says this small effort can make a difference. 2.2 million people and 2,100 businesses in Sydney turned off their lights on March 31st of last year for one hour.
The effort reduced Sydney's energy consumption by 10.2 percent for one hour, which is the equivalent effect of taking 48-thousand cars off the road for a year.
