(ANDERSON) - A shake-up in management at the Anderson Animal Shelter after 28 dogs were put down without explanation. One of those dogs was set to be picked up for adoption.
The city's animal shelter senior humane officer--Larry Russell-has been put on paid administrative leave as Anderson Mayor Kris Ockomon makes a decision about his future. Ockomon says he plans to meet with Russell on Monday.
Since the news broke Thursday, the mayor says a chain of emails - from animal rights groups expressing their outrage- has been sent to his office.
Right now, the shelter is being led by a team of veterinarians.
