(UNDATED) - Skybus Airlines ceased operations nationwide Friday night after the low cost carrier declared bankruptcy.
The reason: high fuel cost and a slowing economic environment.
The last flight out of Gary left around 8-o'clock Friday evening. The airline had only flown out of Gary for 23 days.
About 10,000 passengers across the nation were left stranded. Those passengers with reservations for flights scheduled to leave on or after today are being told to contact their credit card companies for refunds.
The Skybus collapse came a day after ATA airlines declared bankruptcy.
