(NEW CASTLE) - Some Arizona prisoners who’ve been involved in at least two disturbances at Indiana’s New Castle Correctional Facility are returning west.
Indiana Department of Correction says the prisoner-housing contract between the two states has ended. For security reasons, the department won't say when the inmates will be sent back.
State prison officials say Indiana needs the space at the privately managed New Castle facility for its own inmates.
Some of the 630 Arizona prisoners fought with guards about one year ago in April, triggering a lockdown. 27 of them were charged.
