(LAFAYETTE) - The state supreme court has ruled that a Lafayette woman who pleaded guilty in the death of her stepdaughter should spend the rest of her life in prison.
In a 4-1 decision, the court on Tuesday upheld a sentence of life imprisonment without parole for 36-year-old Michelle Gauvin.
Gauvin admitted to murdering 4-year-old Aiyana Gauvin in September 2006.
