(NEW ALBANY) - The letter said Jesse Mooneyhan had won a lottery. All he had to do was mail a check for $3,000 to global financial security and trust to cover taxes and the company in return would mail him a check for $125,000.
Sounds great if it was a legitimate offer. But it was nothing more than another attempt to scam the elderly.
The Charlestown resident says he knew it was a rip-off as soon as he saw it and contacted the postal service to investigate.
Staci Schneider with the Indiana attorney general's office says, "anytime people want you to send them money, it should send up a red flag. It could wind up costing you a lot of money."
