(INDIANAPOLIS) - PETA is protesting animal testing at Eli Lilly.
Natalie Wright with PETA says Lilly subjects animals to painful testing with no pain relief and wants the company to stop the practice altogether. Lilly spokesman Phil Belt some animal testing is still required by the FDA, and Belt says its done as humanely as possible.
PETA also submitted a shareholder resolution for Lilly to fully disclose any of its animal testing done overseas.
Belt says the company does outsource some of its animal testing, but says the company requires the same conditions as testing done in the U.S and has fully disclosed all details.
