(RISING SUN) - The small Southeastern Indiana community of Rising Sun is honoring our veterans with a massive tribute bell tower.
The structure is being built for the town by a family-owned company that was founded in 1842. Verdin Company spokesman Jim Verdin says the town wanted a lasting way to thank US troops for their service.
The bell tower is 30 feet high with four clock dials that read "take time to remember."
Verdin plans to donate a portion of the $250,000 price tag to a Washington-based non-profit that helps assist veterans with medical treatment.
The bell tower is located on the Ohio Riverfront at the corner of Front and Main Streets.
