(EVANSVILLE) - The Indiana Gaming Commission has brought in a trustee to run the Aztar Riverboat Casino in Evansville until the current owner can sell it.
Columbia Sussex, Aztar's owner, lost their license to operate the Tropicana Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey last December. By law, the commission may not license a company that has seen one of its gambling licenses revoked in another state.
To avoid closing the casino, the Indiana Gaming Commission arranged for Tom Dingman, a 25-year veteran of the gaming industry, to take over for at least six months.
The commission hopes that Columbia Sussex's agreement to sell Aztar to Eldorado Resorts will be approved by then.
Eldorado is based in Reno, Nevada and has owned casinos in Nevada since the 1970's.
It also has gaming properties in Louisiana.
