(INDIANAPOLIS) - Injuries in Indiana work zones have gone down for three straight years, and the state hopes to make it four.
Last year, an average of three people died in work zone crashes nationwide every day. Indiana had seven deaths, down from 15 the year before.
State police stepped up enforcement in work zones, and had a new weapon in the form of increased fines for speeding or reckless driving.
Indiana actually had 250 more work zone accidents last year than in 2006, but 130 fewer injuries.
This is Indiana Highway Work Zone Safety Awareness Week.
