(KOKOMO) - Police say four adults are accused of holding two 4-year-old children in closets for up to three weeks at a time, binding them with zip ties, and causing them to suffer broken bones.
The children's mothers, 36-year-old Jennifer Leonard and 30-year-old Melissa Chandler, are facing charges of neglect and aiding -- as well as inducing or causing battery.
42-year-old Madeline Hawk is also accused of neglect and battery. Her husband, 33-year-old Donald Hawk, was charged with neglect.
Authorities say the Hawks are friends of Chandler and Leonard.
