(INDIANAPOLIS) - Plans for the connector between Lucas Oil Stadium and the expanded Indiana Convention Center were presented to the Indiana Stadium and Convention Building Authority Board Monday.
The presentation included an extension of the Indianapolis cultural trail.
Bill Browne with Ratio Architects said a pedestrian walkway will provide access between the two buildings in all- weather comfort. The pedestrian walkway will run along Capitol Avenue and underneath South Street into a tunnel connecting with the field level of Lucas Oil Stadium.
Brian Payne, President of the Central Indiana Community Foundation, says the cultural trail is an incredible beautifully- designed version of the Monon Trail. The cultural trail is being expanded from White River State Park to Lucas Oil Stadium with a bike trail, separated from the pedestrian pathways.
Work is expected to be completed by the fall or early winter of 2010.
