(UNDATED) - More folks are finding alternate methods of transportation to avoid the pain at the pump. That’s also good news for the environment.
The Indiana Department of Environmental Management is reminding people that "ozone season" begins May 1st meaning people need to find ways to cut back on harmful emissions.
Sarah Raymond with IDEM says that can be carpooling, taking the bus, riding a bike, and even waiting to mow your lawn until dusk.
Raymond says Indiana has struggled in years' past with environmental quality standards but great strides have been made in Central and Northwest Indiana.
IDEM is holding events across the state this week. They'll be in Michigan City Thursday.
