(INDIANAPOLIS) - You would’ve thought the Colts had just won the Super Bowl - a loud pep rally was held Wednesday afternoon to celebrate Indianapolis getting the Super Bowl.
The site was Harshman Middle School on the near east side. Kids waived rally towels and did the wave ahead of the rally. Speakers included Colts Coach Tony Dungy, team owner Jim Irsay, and quarterback Peyton Manning.
Wrapping up the rally was Indianapolis Public Schools' Superintendent Dr. Eugene White. White gave the final section of the pitch to the NFL owners Tuesday in Atlanta.
White says he believes what gave Indianapolis the edge was the plan to build a new practice facility on the Arsenal Tech High School campus. That facility will become a recreational spot for the east side.
White says this Super Bowl is about leaving something for future generations and to inspire kids today.
