(INDIANAPOLIS) - More than 700 representatives from healthcare organizations, colleges and universities and the community-at-large are expected to attend the Nursing 2000 Scholarship Benefit Friday night at the Westin Hotel in downtown Indianapolis.
The benefit, now in its 18th year, raises funds for nursing scholarships. Since its inception, Nursing 2000 has raised more than $727,500 for 663 undergraduate and graduate nursing students.
Executive Director Barbara Mitchell says the event promotes nursing as a profession and it demonstrates what a concerted health care community we have to support nursing.
Mitchell says there's a critical need for male nurses because, in recent years, more women are going into other professions.
