(MOSCOW) - It’s not a bridge over troubled water in Moscow, it’s actually a troubled bridge under water.
The tiny Rush County community is trying to come to terms with the last week's destruction of its covered bridge, built in 1886 by the Kennedy family.
The Kennedys built several bridges in Indiana between 1820 and 1922--of them, fewer than a dozen remain; five are in Rush County. A tornado wiped out the bridge.
Margaret Smith with the Indiana Covered Bridge Society says it will cost three to four-million dollars to rebuild the bridge. She says some of the cost to rebuild could come for federal grant money.
