(INDIANAPOLIS) - Planners Tuesday held the second in a series of public meetings on a proposed rail system from Noblesville to Downtown Indianapolis.
About 150 people attended the first meeting. Officials fielded questions and comments after a 45 minute presentation outlining various proposals being considered.
Many of those who were on hand had questions and concerns. Among them, the effect on vehicular traffic at intersections where a train would cross while others are worried about the environmental impact of diesel engines. "I think some of it quite honestly," said Jeff Davis, "it's hip to get rail and I think it's a silly reason for it."
A number of people spoke privately in support of the plan, saying it's long overdue. "If Indianapolis wants to be a world class city, it has got to have light rail." said Jane Lommell.
