(LAWRENCE) - The Miracle League of Indianapolis has announced plans to build its first miracle league field in Lawrence at Veteran’s Memorial Park through an agreement with the city of Lawrence.
The program allows children with developmental difficulties like wheelchairs, walkers, crutches or canes a safe an encouraging environment in which to play baseball.
The field will be built in an area with fields for able-bodies children to integrate the experience and add to the competitive atmosphere.
Miracle League participants will have a smooth, resilient surface with wheelchair accessible dugouts, restrooms, concession stand and other amenities that not only will allow children with special needs to play baseball, but will provide an important and needed framework to join a community of athletes with disabilities and their families in a time of fun and relaxation.
