(UNDATED) - School bus inspections are taking place state wide.
The Indiana State Police Department is tasked with conducting inspections of almost 15,000 school buses.
State law mandates school buses be inspected annually. Buses 12 years old or older are required to be inspected every six months. A bus is either approved, rejected, or placed out-of-service after the inspection.
A bus designated out-of-service may not be used to transport students until the major violation has been repaired.
Day care buses are also included in the inspections.
