(UNDATED) - At least one president of an Indiana college is backing a national effort to have the drinking age lowered from 21 to 18.
Butler university president Dr. Bobby Fong is one of one-hundred college leaders signing the amethyst initiative -- a statement that claims the change would help reduce students' binge drinking on campus.
But opponents including mother's against drunk driving say lowering the drinking age would lead to more fatal car crashes and other dangerous behavior.
