(INDIANAPOLIS) - The Indiana State Fair begins a 12-day run today.
With a new covered bridge leading to remodeled facilities on the north side of the fairgrounds, Fair Director Kyle Hupfer says a lot of work went into the preparations. But you won't see that.
The contracts were signed and the work begun months ago. The bridge was built by Dan Cullum. He says his love for covered bridges is a natural for him, coming from a family of carpenters in Parke County. He also oversaw the rebuilding of the famous Bridgeton Bridge.
But he says he knew this bridge "would be where lots of people would enjoy it" every year and "not just see one on a calendar."
