(INDIANAPOLIS) - While thousands of youthful Olympic hard bodies are making their mark in Beijing, more than 700 U.S. military veterans are showcasing their skills in Indianapolis during the 22nd National Golden Age Games.
63-year-old Navy vet Jackie Hope is competing in shuffleboard, horseshoes and air rifle after winning a gold medal for bowling.
The Indianapolis resident says the games -- which also include golfing and even checkers -- offers vets the chance to bond and receive recognition for their service.
The games run through Sunday at the Indianapolis Convention Center and Lucas Oil Stadium.
