(WEST MIDDLETON) - A Kokomo four-year-old is dead after her grandfather ran her over with a minivan.
Howard County authorities say Beatrice Arreola had just attended church with her family at Centro Cristiano Adonai Church near west Middleton.
Sheriff's deputies say she was standing near the front bumper of the van in the parking lot. Sheriff's deputies say 48-year-old Jesus Martinez didn't see her, and hit her as he pulled forward onto the church lawn to turn into traffic.
Authorities had to use a jack to lift the minivan off the girl. She was pronounced dead soon after arriving at Howard Regional Hospital.
Beatrice is the seventh person killed in a Howard County traffic accident in the last 15 days.
