(INDIANAPOLIS) - A 23 year veteran of the Indianapolis Police Department is accused of drunk driving.
Patrolman George Leon Benjamin was arrested Sunday night. Authorities say he crashed his squad car into a fence at Bryant Heating and Cooling.
Lt. Jeff Duhammel says security guards called police to the scene after Benjamin continued to drive after striking the fence. Officers say he blew a .15 on the breathalyzer -- just under twice the legal limit.
Benjamin was arrested for operating while intoxicated, operating with a blood alcohol content above .15, and public intoxication.
Duhamell says Benjamin has been placed on desk duty pending the outcome of the investigation.
