(MUNCIE) - The mayor of Muncie wants to be notified before city employees talk to the news media.
Mayor Sharon McShurley issued a memorandum to city and sanitary district employees. The policy requires employees to notify their immediate supervisors before media interviews and to have supervisors present during interviews.
A city union official says the policy violates free speech rights.
