(FISHERS) - The Soft Economy is helping folks to discover their local museums.
Tiffany Hatfield with the Association of Indiana Museums says some of their member museums are shy about promoting their worth to the local community, but an attractive museum brings prestige and tourist dollars to a city.
Many small museums across the state can't afford to send people to national conferences. Instead, they prefer the annual meeting held at Conner Prairie (in Fishers, Indiana) where they learn how their peers deal with such issues as funding and attendance.
Hatfield says this year the attendees are learning more effective ways to engage kids so they become lifelong museum visitors.
