(INDIANAPOLIS) - Charges have been filed against an Indianapolis police officer for allegedly raping a 19-year-old woman while on duty last Friday.
A SWAT team arrested Anthony Smith Thursday. The woman told police that Smith followed her after she stopped for gas. She says she was stopped by Smith and that he said he pulled her over on an outstanding warrant for driving without a license.
The alleged victim told investigators that Smith gave her the choice of getting into his car and riding with him or being arrested. She stated after she got into the vehicle, he forced her to have sex with him.
Investigators said the woman told them where Smith kept condoms in the car and even described some of the runs he was dispatched to while she was with him.
Brizzi also unveiled the Marion County prosecutor's office's justice integrity hotline. The number is (317) 327-5437.
Brizzi said the hotline will be monitored by the prosecutor's office and will allow citizens an avenue outside of normal law enforcement to report incidents of misconduct.
