(FORT WAYNE) - Most Allen County employees are putting in a 40-hour work week, but they’re only working four days a week.
Spokesman Mike Green says commissioners call it flexible scheduling. The idea was implemented to save county employees gas. Instead of having to drive to work five times, they only have to drive to work four times a week.
The new schedule was implemented in June. Although the idea is temporary, officials expect it to become permanent.
Allen County is one of many employers using the concept in the face of expensive gasoline.
