(INDIANAPOLIS) - Being a new dad can be frustrating at times, especially if your baby is fussy.
Clarian Health is offering classes for daddys called "Dad 101." It's a free course that teaches dads to make a plan when junior won't stop crying.
Clarian Health child birth educator Lisa Crane says it's okay to lay the baby in a safe crib and walk away. She says having that plan in place ahead of time can prevent dads from losing their cool. The course is designed to give dads confidence, skills and understanding to care for their newborns.
The program is modeled after the national center on shaken baby syndrome. The latest statistics show nearly 1,300 U.S. children experienced severe or fatal brain damage every year due to shaken baby syndrome.
The next class is in mid-November. More information is available online at clarian.org/childbirth.
