(PORTLAND) - Three men and two women are being held without bond in the Jay County jail after authorities say they conspired to murder a man whose body was found in a shallow grave last week.
They're accused of luring 28-year-old Shawn Buckner to an apartment with promises of sex with the women, then killing him in an effort to get money and prescription drugs.
19-year-old Thomas A. Smith; 30-year-old Michael P. Heffern; 20-year-old Roderick Berry; 19-year-old Addison Pijnappels; and 36-year-old Tina Whiting are being held in connection with the crime. They're charged with murder and robbery resulting in bodily injury.
Prosecutor Robert Clamme says he doesn't believe he will seek the death penalty against any of the five. He declined to say whether he might consider plea agreements.
