(UNDATED) - Interstate 80/94 in Northwestern Indiana is open for travel again after it had been closed since the weekend by flooding from Hurricane Ike’s remnants.
Indiana Department of Transportation spokesman Joshua Bingham said he had hoped the major route to the Chicago area would have been reopened by midday, but receding waters washed back onto the lanes and caused a delay.
INDOT also reopened Interstate 65 northbound, which was closed at U.S. 24 to ease traffic headed into Northwestern Indiana.
