(INDIANAPOLIS) - Lucas Oil Stadium hosted its first concert Saturday to mixed reviews about the acoustics of the cavernous new home of the Indianapolis Colts.
By the time concert headliners Keith Urban and Kenny Chesney hit the stage, officials had opened the roof of the stadium, significantly decreasing the echo that plagued the opening acts.
No other concerts are on the schedule at the stadium for now, giving audio engineers plenty of time to make improvements.
Barney Levengood with Lucas Oil Stadium says they're consulting with the designers of the building to tweak the acoustics. They're also talking with engineers who mix concert sound for suggestions.
Conseco Fieldhouse suffered from similar echo problems when it first opened, too.
Since the Capital Improvement Board owns both buildings, Levengood says he'll have access to Conseco's acoustic improvement information which may help solve the problems at the stadium. But it may take a while to woo back some concert goers who left with a bad first impression.
