(INDIANAPOLIS) - Butler University students, faculty and campus police are on alert after an armed robbery early Saturday morning.
Five people, including three students were robbed by several men at gunpoint.
University Police Chief Andrew Ryan suspects a "random act." Ryan says he finds it "hard to believe that these suspects were just sitting in a parking lot waiting for someone to show up." He says the victims were probably being followed.
Ryan credits the victims for handing over their purses and other belongings without resistance. No one was hurt.
The incidents happened in the parking lot behind the Phi Delta Theta fraternity house.
As a security measure, the university is replacing the locks at Ross Hall where the victims live. Their keys were taken in the holdup.
