(INDIANAPOLIS) - A Greenwood man charged with stealing from a funeral home and cemetery trust funds faced new charges Wednesday, this time in Michigan.
40-year-old Robert Earl Nelms has been indicted on 22 felony charges for allegedly embezzling more than $4 million from a Grand Rapids cemetery trust fund.
Nelms also faces charges of racketeering. The charges follow an investigation into Clayton Smart.
He was charged with 39 felonies in connection to embezzlement of more than $70 million in trust funds for nearly 30 Michigan cemeteries.
Nelms owns funeral homes in Indiana, New York and New Jersey.
