(LOGANSPORT) - A police dog used to find drugs for members of the cass County Drug Task Force has been killed.
Logansport Police Chief Randy Rozzi says "Robbie" was fatally struck by a car last week. The chief says the dog ran off while it was outside relieving itself.
Police searched twelve hours, but called off their search after they found out the dog was killed. "Robbie" was certified in 2006 and helped in more than 100 police cases in Cass County. "Robbie's" handler is Officer Jim Klepinger.
The dog's death leaves the Logansport Police Department with only one police dog.
