(INDIANAPOLIS) - Riley Hospital For Children has a new child obesity program called “POWER”, or Pediatric Overweight Education and Research.
The POWER program offers a comprehensive approach to help families and their health care providers control child obesity. The program operates on a referral basis and involves personal access to riley specialists, medical evaluations and lifestyle modification.
Ann Graves with Riley says a good way to screen your child for obesity is to calculate their body mass index. She says there's a great BMI calculator on the center for disease control's web site (cdc.gov).
If you think your child needs help, then she recommends seeing your primary care physician first.
