(UNDATED) - All across America motorists this week are being reminded the importance of watching for school buses and children on the road.
Indiana State Police Sergeant Wayne Flick says when a school bus activates its stop arm, law requires we stop, no matter if we're headed toward the bus or we're behind it.
If you ignore an activated bus arm, you've broken a criminal law. It is a misdemeanor to ignore the arm, not an infraction like many traffic offenses.
Flick says a school bus crash in Cass County last month killed four children, and it is a painful reminder to remain alert when driving near school buses.
