(INDIANAPOLIS) - The city of Indianapolis will once again be waging war on starlings downtown.
Beginning today, the U.S. Department of Agriculture Wildlife Services will begin using pyrotechnics and lasers to discourage the birds from roosting downtown this fall.
Downtown property owners, residents and visitors are concerned about employee health, public safety and rising clean up costs.
USDA-WS staff will be using a variety of methods including pyrotechnics and lasers. They'll be in uniform and working from the sidewalks and selected rooftops.
The pyrotechnics make loud shrill sounds and booms and signs will be posted downtown to inform everyone that starling disruption may be occurring.
